Parkinson's Awareness Simulator
Arduino, wearable electronics, marker and paper Parkinson's Disease affects more than 10 million people worldwide. Some PD Patients live with motor control issues such as rigidity and tremors that make day to day tasks such as writing more difficult. This project uses a device meant to simulate hand tremors similar in frequency those of some PD patients to create an empathetic experience for those without this impairment. Over the course of a week, the public could participate by wearing the device and tracing the words of an empathy versus sympathy quote by Michael J. Fox, or by donating to the Parkinson Foundation of Western PA's annual appeal to let those with PD know that they are #notalone.
